Barbara was born about 1813 in Decatur,IN. Barbara's father was John Toothman and her mother was Mary Fox. Her paternal grandparents were Johannes (Michael Toothman) DUCHMANN and Barbara Fox (Fuchs); her maternal grandfather was Frederick FOX (FUCHS). She had five brothers and a sister, named Jacob, David, John, Joseph, Phillip and Catherine. She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had a half-sister named Emeline.-
