Frederick was born in September 1696 in Phaffenhoffe,Kr Zaben,Alsace-Loraine,France. Frederick's father was Andreas REISS and his mother was Eva EICHMAN. His maternal grandfather was Hans EICHMAN. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hans Phillip, Hans Peter, Andraes, Johann Peter, Madalena, Anna Maria, Anna Barbara and Eva.
They had three sons and four daughters, named Jacob, Frederick, Andraes, Catherine Barbara, Eva Catharina, Margaretha and Maria Magdelena.
