Mary was born in 1839 in ,,PA.1 Mary's father was Benjamin Sweezey and her mother was Elizabeth Jane Hamilton. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Sweezey and Jane Jordon. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Enoch, Hamilton Willard, Alonzo B, David Willard, Franklin Elwell, Amanda, Sarah, Henrietta and Candice L. She was the second oldest of the ten children.-
