Joseph was born in 1686 in Southold,Suffolk,New York.1 Joseph's father was Joseph Swayze and his mother was Mary Betts. His paternal grandparents were John Swayze and Katherine King; his maternal grandparents were Richard Betts and Joanna Chamberlain. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Moses, Richard A, Stephen, Samuel, Joanna, Sarah, Mary and Bethia. He died at the age of 75 on February 6th, 1761 in Brookhaven,Suffolk,NY.-
