Stephen Swayze 
Stephen was born in 1694 in Southold,Long Island,New York.1 Stephen's father was Joseph Swayze and his mother was Mary Betts. His paternal grandparents were John Swayze and Katherine King; his maternal grandparents were Richard Betts and Joanna Chamberlain. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Moses, Joseph, Richard A, Samuel, Joanna, Sarah, Mary and Bethia.General Notes

in 1745 he bought 150 acres and increased it to 1000 by 1765. this land would cover much of the West Middle Island area. His homestead is located just north of the upper Swezeytown pond.
