Susan Malinda's father was Malachi Pewitt and her mother was Mary Inman. She had two brothers and a sister, named William Washington, Joel and Nancy Jane. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named David, Labonn, James Henry, John S, Silas L, Martha C, Mary Albertine, Lottie A and Josephine J.
