Joseph M. was born in February 1850 in Owen,IN. Joseph M.'s father was Mercer Morris and his mother was Elizabeth Taylor. His paternal grandparents were William Godfrey Morris and Nancy Young; his maternal grandparents were John Taylor and Catherine Wetzel. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John Taylor, William E., James Irwin, Nancy O. Catherine, Mary Ellen, Louisa Jane, Isabella, Sarah Melissa, Amanda Maria Elizabeth and Anna Emma. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died before 1922.-
