Benjamin was born in 1841 in ,Owen,IN. Benjamin's father was Robert Gwinn Morris and his mother was Nancy Grisham. His paternal grandparents were William Godfrey Morris and Nancy Young; his maternal grandparents were John Gresham and Lydia Hill. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Richard, Fountain, Nancy, Sally, Mary, Nicey and Elizabeth. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
