Samuel Floyd was born on August 26th, 1853. Samuel Floyd's father was Alexander McClung and his mother was Eleanor Thompson. His paternal grandparents were John McClung and Nancy Goff. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Robert Alexander, John Thomas, William Henry, Edward Smith, George Washington, Martha Jane, Nancy Ann, Elizabeth Rachel, Leah Goff and Ella Rosetta.
