James was born on March 28th, 1798 in ,Woodford,KY. James' father was Robert Guyn and his mother was Jane Black. His paternal grandparents were Robert Guyn and Jane Raburn; his maternal grandparents were Robert Black and Ann Spears. He had ten brothers and three sisters, named Robert, John, Hugh Spears, Samuel Raburn, Moses Campbell, William, Thomas Reed, Harvey, Andrew Rainey, Adam Rankin, Jane Spears, Louisa Ann and Paulina. He was the second oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 82 in 1880 in ,Hickman,KY.-
