His paternal grandparents were John Melton Coltrin and Minerva Reeves; his maternal grandparents were James M. Toner and Susan Young. He had three brothers and a sister, named John Matthias, James Arthur, George H. and Mellie Toner. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 77 on August 31st, 1979 in Bakerfield,CA.-
