His paternal grandparents were John Melton Coltrin and Minerva Reeves; his maternal grandparents were James M. Toner and Susan Young. He had three brothers and a sister, named John Matthias, James Arthur, Walter Theodore and Mellie Toner. He was the second youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 80 on November 30th, 1980 in Glendale,CA.-
