John Ames 
John was born on February 16th, 1834 in Ohio.1 John's father was Dorsey Pentecost Ames and his mother was Susan Pierce. His paternal grandparents were Jabez Ames and Elizabeth Smith. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Absalom D, Silas H, Esther, Dalilah and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 25 on September 22nd, 1859 in Pike,Muscatine Co,Iowa. He was buried in Watkins Cemetery,Muscatine Co,Iowa.1 1 General Notes
