His paternal grandparents were Jacob "Zeuch" Zike and Katherine Lucinda Avey; his maternal grandparents were George Wiseman and Elizabeth Baugh. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Andrew J., Jacob Woodard, Cassinda, America Jane, Rebecca, Malinda, Lucindia, Susannah and Margarette. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 86 on February 12th, 1928 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried in Harrodsburg Cemetery, Monroe, Indiana.General Notes
