Samuel Lawrence was born on November 25th, 1863 in Iowa. Samuel Lawrence's father was James Thomas Zike and his mother was Malinda Baker. His paternal grandparents were William Allen Zike and Lydia Goforth. He had six brothers and four sisters, named William Allen, James Wesley, Arthur M., Ralph A., Clarence Freeman, Burt, Sarah E., Mary C., Bernice E. and Lottie Mae. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 81 in 1944 in Edison, Furnace County, Nebraska.-
