Lydia was born about 1832 in Kentucky. Lydia's father was Joseph Zike and her mother was Sarah Goforth. Her paternal grandparents were Jacob "Zeuch" Zike and Katherine Lucinda Avey; her maternal grandfather was Thomas, Sr. Goforth. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Jordan, Joseph, George W., Martha, Mary Jane, Margaret, Lucy and Susan.-
