Russell Vaught 
Russell was born on February 6th, 1906. Russell's father was Thomas M. Vaught and his mother was Izella Ethel Shields. His maternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Mary Jane Heltonburg. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Glen Hershel, Roy, Oneta, Lola Mae, Ruth, Rose and Hazel June. He was the second oldest of the eight children.General Notes
Russell was in the U. S. Navy for 30 yrs, 3mos, 7dys and retired as a
Commander on 3/1/1959. He was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. His
wife and son were on the way to spend Christmas with him. Their ship had
to turn back.
