James Glen was born on March 14th, 1900 in Monroe County, Indiana. James Glen's father was David Jefferson Shields and his mother was Cordelia Sexton. His paternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Martha J. Sciscoe. He had a brother and four sisters, named Noble "Jack", Carrie, Zelma, Ruth Elizabeth and Mildred Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 70 on September 13th, 1970 in Bloomington ,Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Clear Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
