Ferbia Mae was born on December 10th, 1897 in Monroe County, Indiana. Ferbia Mae's father was George Washington Shields and her mother was Luella Richardson. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Lindsey Shields and Eliza Jane Whitsell. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Ambrose W., Fred Colon, Frank G. Shields, Alva, Goldie Cecil, Ruby, Maude and Hespa O.. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 72 on April 7th, 1970 in Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio. She was buried in Clover Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
