Thomas S. was born in 1827 in Virginia. Thomas S.'s father was Thomas Scott Simms. His paternal grandparents were George Wilson Simms and Sarah Susanna Delaney. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Elkanah, William D., George Wilson, James L., John Wesley, Elias, Mary R., Susanna and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 57 on February 13th, 1884 in Putnam County. He was buried in Ellis Cemetery.-
