William Clay 
William was born on August 11th, 1760 in , Chesterfield, Virginia.1 William's father was James Clay and his mother was Margaret Muse. His paternal grandparents were Charles Clay and Sarah 2; his maternal grandparents were William Muse and Mary Pope. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named James, Eleazer, Jeremiah 1, Mary, Sabrina, Lydia, Martha, Nancy, Elizabeth and Pattie. Wiliam was a Revolutionary War soldier, enlisting in Chesterfield County, Virginia, at the age of sixteen. He applied for a pension10 October 1832, at the age of seventy-two, when he was residing in Granger County, Tennessee. He was allowed pension for seven months' service as a Sergeant in he Virginia Troops. Part of the time he served under Captain Edward Mosely and Colonel Robert Goode.[LWRigsbyHistGaFamilies.FTW]
