George was born about 1755 in Mercer Co, KY.1 George's father was Mathias Yoakum and his mother was Elinor See. His paternal grandparents were Francis Jochem and Millie Felty; his maternal grandparents were George Ludwig Zeh and Margaret Tschudi. He had eleven brothers named Francis, Jacob, Felty, Valentine, Mathias, Jesse, Michael, Conrad, John, William and Henry. He was the youngest of the twelve children.General Notes
