Edward I the Elder 
Edward I the Elder was born in 0871 in Wessex, England.1 Edward I the Elder's father was The Great Alfred and his mother was Ethelwitha of Mercia. His paternal grandparents were Ethelwild (Aethelwulf) and Osburh of Wessex; his maternal grandparents were Mucel Aethelred and Eadburh Of Mercia. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edmund of Wessex, Ethelwerd of Wessex, Elfrida of Wessex, Ethelfleda and Ethelgiva of Shaftsbury. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 53 in August 0924 in Farrington, Berkshire, England. He was buried in Winchester, Hampshire, Eng.1 1 General Notes
