Robert was born before 1802 and his baptism took place on December 29th, 1802 in Modbury Devon.1  Robert's father was Francis Grills Sture and his mother was Mary Ann Morgan.  His paternal grandparents were George Sture and Agnes Grills. He had four brothers and five sisters, named George, Francis, Peter, William, Biddy, Agnes, Mary, Elizabeth and Nancy.  He was the third youngest of the ten children.
