The family moved in 1864 to Apsley House (formerly the Grange), Whitchurch, near Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. Philip Wilson Steer was an artist. He was awarded the Order of Merit, having refused a Knighthood. He was a founder member of the New English Arts Club. Biography by D.S.McColl in 1943.
