Annie was born in 1869 in Bramley. Annie's father was Stephen Steer and her mother was Sarah.  Her paternal grandparents were John Steer and Eliza steer. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, George, Albert, Alice and Kate.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
