Thomas was born before 1755 and his baptism took place on August 12th, 1755 in West Alvington.1   Thomas' father was Thomas Sture and his mother was Mary Luckham.  His paternal grandparents were William Sture and Agnes Cranch. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, George, John, Jasper, Richard, Mary and Ann.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
