Martha was born about 1837 in Bradnop, Staffordshire.1   Martha's father was Steers and her mother was Martha STEERS. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, William, George H, Hannah, Ruth and Morton J.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.
