Emma was born about 1883 in Bromley Kent.1   Emma's father was George STEERS and her mother was Eliza STEERS. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Albert, Edward, Isabella, Emma, Eliza, Ada and Maud.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.
