Abraham was born in 1751 in Lisbon, Portugal..1   Abraham's father was Henry STEER and his mother was Mary COOKE.  His paternal grandparents were John STEER and Elizabeth YOUNG. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John, Henry, William, Charles, Henry, James, Elizabeth Eleonara, Anna Maria Sophia, Charlotte Augusta, Anna Amelia and Mariana.  He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children.
