George was born about 1898 in Billingshurst Sussex.1   George's father was Albert STEER and his mother was Edith STEER. He had two brothers and five sisters, named William, Christpher, Chartottey, Margret, Edith, Catherine and Fanney.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.
