Fanney was born about 1899 in West Chiltington, Sussex.1   Fanney's father was Albert STEER and her mother was Edith STEER. She had three brothers and four sisters, named William, Christpher, George, Chartottey, Margret, Edith and Catherine.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
