Catherine was born about 1897 in West Chiltington, Sussex.1   Catherine's father was Albert STEER and her mother was Edith STEER. She had three brothers and four sisters, named William, Christpher, George, Chartottey, Margret, Edith and Fanney.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
