George was born about 1886 in Crediton Devon.1   George's father was Robert STEER and his mother was Eliza STEER. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Robert, John, Louis, Emma, Eliza, Alice, Ellen, Edith, Bessie and Florence.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.
