George was born on November 28th, 1783 in Limpsfield Surrey.  George's father was George STEER and his mother was Martha YOUNG.  His paternal grandparents were William STEER and Elizabeth HASWEL. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Edward, Martha, Ann, Mary and Susannah.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
