Alice was born about 1883 in Stratford, Essex.1   Alice's father was Thomas STEARS and her mother was Eliza STEARS. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Arthur, Charle, Bertie, Joseph, Amelia and Agnes.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
