Thomas was born about 1882 in Spitalfields, London.1   Thomas' father was Joseph STEAR and his mother was Ellen STEAR. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, James, Harry, Ellen, Emma and Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
