George Charles was born about 1899 in Staffordshire West Bromwich.1   George Charles' father was Benjamin Tamar STEAR and his mother was Harriet Jane STEAR. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thamas Tamar, Leslie Robert, Albert Clarence, Lionel, Alice Maude, Olave Margeret and Edna Charlotte.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
