Mary Ann was born about 1854 in Surrey.1   Mary Ann's father was Thomas MAXSOM and her mother was Sophia Steers.  Her maternal grandfather was James STEERS. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Harry, Frank and Lydia.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
