Lydia was born about 1858 in Surrey.1   Lydia's father was Thomas MAXSOM and her mother was Sophia Steers.  Her maternal grandfather was James STEERS. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Harry, Frank and Mary Ann.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
