Amelia was born about 1819.1   Amelia's father was Benjamin Brokenshire and her mother was Dorothy.  Her paternal grandparents were John Brokenshire (Brokensher) and Amy. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Samuel, Mary and Emma.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
