Charles' father was Thomas Steer and his mother is <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were William Steer and Anne Merriott; his maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Rhoda Berry. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Alfred, Mary and Jane.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  Charles is no longer alive.
