Thomas' father was Samuel Woodward and his mother was Martha Taylor.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Woodworth (Woodward) and Hannah Kemp. He had two brothers named Joseph and William.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 82 in December 1926 in Heswall.¹
