Ellen Wood

Ellen was born on August 22nd, 1831 in Quarmby Cum Lindley and her baptism took place on August 22nd, 1831 in Salendine Nook Meeting House (Baptist).¹²

  No baptism record for Ellen with father JAMES, but this does appear to be correct in every other respect.

  There is also an Ellen Wood, daughter of George a labourer and Martha of School Hill, Almondbury baptised 18 Sep 1831

Ellen's father was James Wood and her mother was Martha Iredale. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Wood and Rebeccah Sykes. She had two brothers and a sister, named George, Humphrey and Nanny. She was the third oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 35 in March 1867 in Huddersfield.³

  In 1851, Ellen Wood: Daughter, 19, at Wood End, Lockwood, Golcar.
  
  In 1856, Ellen Wood did NOT marry Joseph Watson at Almondbury. That was another Ellen, daughter of Charles Wood or Meltham. In 1857, Another Ellen Wood (23) daughter of James Wood a Clothier married Joseph Ainley (27), a weaver son of Samuel (both of Golcar).
  
  In 1851, Ellen Wood (29, unmarried) was still with her parents ay Leymoor Bottom.
