David was born in September 1850 in Birkenhead.1  David's father was Abraham Wood and his mother was Martha Taylor. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Daniel, Abraham, Annie, Martha, Mary and Susannah.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 49 on November 29th, 1899 in Birkenhead.  He was buried at the Landican Cemetery.
