Edward was born in November 1764 in Shotton and his baptism took place on November 25th, 1764 in Hawarden.1  Edward's father was John Williams and his mother was Elizabeth Evans. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Ann, Sarah, Mary, John and Margaret.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine known children.
