Mark was born in January 1811 and his christening took place on June 12th, 1811 in Ossett.1  Mark's father was Mark Whitaker and his mother was Mary Megson. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Rachel, Zilphe, Emma, Susanna and Mary.
