Rebecah's father was Joseph Sykes and her mother was Mary Lightowler.  Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Sykes and Elizabeth Wood. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Joseph, John, James, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Mary and Hannah.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
