Joseph Sykes

Joseph was born about 1746 in Huddersfield and his christening took place on October 10th, 1746 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).¹

Joseph's father was Joseph Sykes and his mother was Mary Lightowler. His paternal grandparents were Edmund Sykes and Elizabeth Wood. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William, John, James, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Rebecah, Mary and Hannah. He was the second oldest of the ten children.

General Notes
- This christening record got Joseph omits the mothers name, so this could be an error. All other children also record the mother's maiden name. However, the birth fits perfectly in the gap for one child every two years. Also, it was strange, not having a Joseph. It must surely be right!
