Ellen's father was Thomas Isherwood and her mother was Alice Stevenson. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Isherwood and Margaret Vickers (not Bickerstaff); her maternal grandparents were Robert Stevenson and Ellen Beck. She was an only child. She died at the age of 80 in 1951.
